Datra was established in 1981 as part of the Jan Darmadi Group, and later became and independent entity following ownership takeover by Lies Kawengian who still serves as Managing Director.
It began as a building protection specialist, working with our life-long partner Hitchins Far East, to solve some of the trickiest waterproofing problems at the time. The success of these projects brought Datra to the forefront of the industry. Following that, the company was entrusted with the protection and maintenance of many significant government buildings in the country, such as the Indonesian National Assembly building (MPR) and the Indonesian National Monument (Monas). Now, Datra's building protection products can be found at countless buildings across the Indonesian archipelago.
Datra continues to build its industry prominence and size through a series of involvements in high profile projects and constant reinvestments in internal development. Continuous addition of new departments, sales branches, production facilities, and businesses accounts for the accretion of the company. Over the years, Datra has diversified into general construction, consultancy, construction management and coating manufacturing of products licensed from our partners. Recently, it ventured into the sports venue industry with its interest in Planet Futsal Indoor Soccer Centers. Through tough and good times, and numerous political and economical turmoil the company has performed well.
Today, the company is managed professionally and continues to push the boundaries of innovation in industry. It strives to be the leader of sustainability and to take a more active role in the development of Indonesia. Datra will continue to grow and develop to realize its dream to eventually become a leading firm in the region.
